Wilkes County School District in Wilkes County experienced a fall in student enrollment for 2022-23 school year

The only school district in Wilkes County faced declining enrollment in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

There were 1,187 students in the halls of Wilkes County School District, 4.4% less than the year before.

Enrollment in Wilkes County was steady compared to the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52% of them were male, and 48% were female.

The most represented ethnicity among Wilkes County School District students was Black, accounting for 49% of the student population.

Wilkes County School District has a main office in WASHINGTON and is the only school district within Wilkes County.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:15, which is better than the national average of 1:16. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
