The week of March 13 - 17, 2023, is School Boards Appreciation Week in Georgia. The weeklong observance calls attention to the contributions of local boards of education.
Board of Education representatives include the following: David Dekle, Chairman; David Alalof, District One representative; Kristi Baker, District Two representative; Judy Teasley, District Three representative and Vice Chair; and Lee Ann Meyer, District Four representative.
A special reception for Board members will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2023, beginning at 4:45 p.m. in the Board rooms of the central office, located at 4781 Hereford Farm Rd., Evans, GA, 30809. The public is welcome and invited to attend.
As constitutional officers of Georgia, school board members are responsible for setting educational policies, employing school personnel, providing buildings and equipment, operating a transportation system and disbursing school funds. As community leaders, school board members serve as advocates for the children in local public schools and must study, evaluate and decide what actions are in the best interest of those students. The Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) sponsors the celebration each year.
