Augusta Technical College issued the following announcement on Dec. 29.
Augusta Technical College is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Kristie Searcy as the new Dean of the School of Health Sciences.
Dr. Searcy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, a Master’s degree in Health Services Management, and a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership. Dr. Searcy has worked in the higher education sector for almost 19 years and has been with the College since 2004.
She currently serves as the college’s College Exposure Control Coordinator and the Radiologic Technology Department Head. During her tenure, the Radiologic Technology program earned initial accreditation, has maintained a national board pass rate of 100% for almost a decade, and expanded to offer certificates in other imaging modalities. Reflective of Dr. Searcy’s service to the field, she is a site visitor for the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.
“My passion in life is empowering people to become better versions of themselves," stated Dr. Searcy. "Working in education has given me the platform to do just that. I love what I do, and I love that I get to do it at Augusta Technical College.”
Both at Augusta Technical College and in the community, she promotes education and personal development as a lifelong journey. Searcy is an active member of the local chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc and Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Additionally, she is a graduate of Leadership Augusta Class of 2020 and a current member of the Talented Tenth Leadership Development Program. Additionally, she sits on various boards throughout the Augusta River Region.
"The School of Health Sciences is our largest academic school, and we have transformative plans for its growth and expansion," stated College President Dr. Jermaine Whirl . "With her academic and community leadership background, we’re confident that Dr. Searcy will lead our school to new heights and national prominence."
Dr. Searcy is married to Dr. Jamyle Searcy, Pastor of New Direction Christian Center in Augusta, GA, and they have 3 children.
