Congressman Rick W. Allen of Georgia, Vice Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Communications and Technology Subcommittee, together with Congresswoman Doris Matsui of California and Congressman Tim Walberg of Michigan, have reintroduced the FUTURE Networks Act. This legislation is designed to establish a 6G Task Force through the FCC, involving industry leaders, public interest groups, and government experts.

Congressman Allen emphasized the importance of U.S. leadership in telecommunications, stating, "6G is the future of telecommunications and we must ensure the United States is a global leader in this emerging technology." Allen further highlighted the necessity of including top industry participants to collaborate on future 6G deployment. Allen's involvement as Vice Chair of the Communications and Technology Subcommittee underscores his commitment to advancing this initiative.

Congresswoman Matsui underscored the transformative potential of 6G technologies, noting, "6G holds the potential to revolutionize connectivity, support smart transport, and supercharge augmented reality applications for education, healthcare, and manufacturing." Matsui framed the pursuit of 6G as an issue of national significance impacting security and economic stability.

Congressman Walberg echoed these sentiments, linking technological advancement with national security. He stated, "Our economic and national security depend on the United States remaining the leader in wireless technology." Walberg expressed his pride in collaborating with Matsui and Allen on this legislation aimed at fortifying American networks against cyber threats and fostering innovation.

The FUTURE Networks Act mandates that the FCC create a task force combining representatives from various sectors. This task force will focus on examining the role of standards-setting bodies in 6G, potential use cases for the technology, cybersecurity threats, and interagency coordination.
