Congressman Rick W. This legislation is designed to establish a 6G Task Force through the FCC, involving industry leaders, public interest groups, and government experts.

Congresswoman Matsui underscored the transformative potential of 6G technologies, noting, "6G holds the potential to revolutionize connectivity, support smart transport, and supercharge augmented reality applications for education, healthcare, and manufacturing." Matsui framed the pursuit of 6G as an issue of national significance impacting security and economic stability.

The FUTURE Networks Act mandates that the FCC create a task force combining representatives from various sectors. This task force will focus on examining the role of standards-setting bodies in 6G, potential use cases for the technology, cybersecurity threats, and interagency coordination.
