The House of Representatives has passed H.R. 1968, the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025. The legislation, which funds the government through September 30, 2025, received support from Congressman Rick W. Allen (GA-12), who expressed his views following the vote.
"With President Trump's support, House Republicans passed legislation today to keep the lights on in Washington while we continue our work to rein in wasteful spending, reduce the debt, and deliver the America First agenda," said Congressman Allen. He added that "this CR includes no poison pills, no gimmicks, and no outrageous pet projects." He urged the Senate to pass the bill promptly so it could be sent to President Trump for approval.
H.R. 1968 aims to maintain government operations without increasing taxpayer spending. It also ensures funding for veterans' health care services and benefits while enhancing defense investments. Notably, it includes a significant pay raise for junior enlisted troops—the largest in over four decades.
The resolution supports federal wildland firefighters and their efforts to protect communities and public lands. It also seeks to safeguard Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid recipients from potential disruptions caused by a government shutdown.
Additionally, H.R. 1968 increases funding for air traffic control priorities compared to FY24 levels. It allocates more than $500 million additional funds for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) nutrition assistance program as requested by the Trump Administration—bringing total funding for WIC to $7.6 billion.
