Today, Congressman Rick W. Allen from Georgia's 12th district was appointed as the Chairman of the Education and Workforce Committee's Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions (H.E.L.P). Congressman Allen expressed his enthusiasm for the new role by stating:
"With forty years of experience building and operating a small business, I am well-aware of how federal policies impact the livelihoods of job creators and workers alike. During President Trump's first term in office, we built the strongest economy in my lifetime, and we can do so again. As Chairman of the HELP Subcommittee, I look forward to leading efforts to return our nation to economic prosperity and dominance—affording all Americans the opportunity to secure a good-paying job, provide for their families, and save for retirement while also protecting employer-sponsored benefits like health care. I thank Chairman Tim Walberg for entrusting me with this role. Now is the time to hit the ground running and deliver our America First agenda."
Chairman Tim Walberg expressed his confidence in Congressman Allen's leadership by saying:
"I am honored to have Rep. Rick Allen chair the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions. Four years of failed leadership from the Biden-Harris administration pummeled America’s workers and job creators. Now, the American workforce needs strong leaders in Congress who will fight to promote individual freedom and pro-growth economic policies. Rep. Allen, who spearheaded efforts to protect American savers from Biden-Harris’ radical regulations, will be critical in leading this charge so workers, job creators, and the U.S. economy can flourish."
The subcommittee handles matters concerning relationships between employers and employees. This includes legislation such as the National Labor Relations Act, Labor-Management Relations Act, Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act; oversight of the Bureau of Labor Statistics; as well as employment-related health and retirement security matters including pension plans, health benefits, other employee benefits under ERISA.
