The House Energy and Commerce Committee has announced the selection of Congressman Rick W. Allen from Georgia's 12th district as Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology. Congressman Allen expressed his gratitude for the appointment, stating, "I am honored to have been selected as the Vice Chair of the Communications and Technology Subcommittee for the 119th Congress."

Allen outlined his priorities, which include reauthorizing the FCC’s spectrum auction authority, enacting broadband permitting reform, reforming Section 230, combating robocalls, and protecting communications infrastructure. He emphasized efforts to address connectivity challenges in rural areas: "We will prioritize efforts to bridge the digital divide in rural America."

Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman-Elect Guthrie congratulated Allen on his new role: "Congressman Allen's deep expertise of our nation's telecommunications system will help propel our country into the next generation economy." Guthrie highlighted their shared goals of closing the digital divide and safeguarding critical communications infrastructure.
