The House of Representatives has approved S. 4367, the Thomas R. Carper Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2024. This legislation includes provisions for the complete repair of the New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam and mandates maintaining the pool level at 114.5 feet, as specified in Section 1315.

Congressman Rick W. Allen, representing Georgia's 12th District, expressed his support following the vote. "The residents of Georgia's 12th District and the CSRA deserve today's victory," he stated. He emphasized the years-long effort by himself and the community to preserve the lock and dam's pool level. Congressman Allen highlighted his role in drafting this language with local stakeholders and advancing it through Congress. "We are one step closer to the finish line and I have no doubt that our district shares my excitement," he added, noting the bipartisan backing as a positive indicator for future enactment.
