Augusta announces office closures for Thanksgiving holiday

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, many offices in Augusta, Georgia, will be closed on Thursday, November 28, 2024, and Friday, November 29, 2024. This announcement outlines the specific operating hours for key services during this period.

The Augusta Municipal Building will remain closed on both days and will reopen on Monday, December 2, 2024. Similarly, all Augusta Utilities offices and both Customer Service locations will be shut down during these dates and will resume their regular schedule from Monday.

The Augusta 311 Center is an exception; it will only close on Thanksgiving Day. Operations will continue from 8:30 am to 5 pm on Friday and Saturday following the holiday.

Augusta Transit services, including Richmond Transit and paratransit services, will not operate on Thanksgiving Day but are expected to return to normal service hours by Friday.

For those needing landfill services or trash collection after the holiday: The Augusta Landfill will also close on Thanksgiving but reopen the next day. Trash collection services for garbage and recycling will be delayed by one day post-holiday. Thursday's collection will occur on Friday and Friday's collection on Saturday.

Parks and Recreation facilities such as administrative offices, community centers, swim centers, Newman Tennis Center athletic offices, and rental offices will also be closed over the two-day holiday break. However, most public parks and tennis courts are accessible from dawn until dusk. Notably though, Pendleton King Park and some cemeteries remain closed due to storm damage. All facilities aim to resume normal operations by December 2nd.

In case of non-billing emergencies related to utilities during this time frame when utility offices are closed please call the designated number at "706-842-3060."
