FOIA Request Sent to Glascock County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

FOIA Request to Glascock County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at East Central Georgia News have submitted a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., for specific records from the Glascock County Election Department.

Our request is focused on gaining insight into the methods used by the department for counting votes in the upcoming elections. We are particularly interested in understanding whether the vote counting process will be manual or automated. If it is manually counted, we have requested an estimated number of people who will be working on election night.

We believe that access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization, we play a crucial role in disseminating information to the public and therefore have requested a fee waiver as per standard practice for media professionals.

We look forward to receiving this information from the Glascock County Election Department and will continue our work in keeping our readers informed about local governmental affairs.
