The city of Augusta, Georgia, has announced temporary road closures for infrastructure improvements. Two roads, 13th Street at Jones Street and Wylds Road, will be affected.
Starting Monday, October 28th, the intersection of 13th Street and Jones Street will close for the installation of a brick crosswalk. This closure is expected to last about two weeks. Traffic coming from North Augusta over the Savannah River bridge will need to detour at Reynolds Street. Detours will be set up, and heavy delays are anticipated in this area. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes.
Wylds Road between Augusta Mall and North Leg Road will also face a closure starting Tuesday, October 29th, for railroad track repairs. This work is projected to take approximately one week. A detour will be available during this time, but motorists should expect delays.
