Screven County Education: Fewer students enrolled in Screven County School District in 2022-23 school year

The only school district in Screven County faced declining enrollment in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

There were 1,941 students in the halls of Screven County School District, 0.3% less than the year before.

Enrollment in Screven County was steady compared to the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52% of them were male, and 48% were female.

The most represented ethnicity among Screven County School District students was Black, accounting for 48% of the student population.

Screven County School District has a main office in Sylvania and is the only school district within Screven County.

According to the Georgia Department of Education, over 1.6 million students were enrolled in Georgia's public schools during the 2021-22 school year. The state boasted a diverse and closely distributed student body across grade levels, with roughly 44% of the students in elementary, 24.5% in middle school, and 31.5% in high schools.

The state also registered an ethnically diverse student body, with 34.4% of the students identified as white, 36.5% as Black, 17.1% as Hispanic, and 4.5% as Asian.
