Screven County: 0.3% less students were enrolled in 2022-23 school year

There were 1,941 students enrolled in Screven County schools in the 2022-23 school year, 0.3% less than the previous year, according to reports from the Georgia Department of Education.

Boys made up 51.8% of the county's student body, while the other 48.2% were girls.

Data also showed that African American students made up 48% of the student body, the largest percentage in Screven County schools, followed by white students with 44.5%, 3.3% multiracial students, 3.2% Hispanic students and 0.3% Asian students.

Screven County Elementary School stood out with the highest enrollment among Screven County's three schools in the 2022-23 cycle, welcoming 916 students.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 15:1, which is better than the national average of 1:16. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
