ATLANTA (Feb. 13, 2024) - Sen. Harold Jones II (D-Augusta), the Democratic Whip, has released a statement regarding his recent appointment to the Senate Special Committee on Investigations. "As a member of this committee, I am tasked with examining the various allegations related to the investigation of former President Donald Trump alongside my colleagues who are also called to serve on this committee," Sen. Jones said. "Despite my opposition to the bill, it is necessary to clarify that I do not seek to impede any investigations against former President Trump. My foremost commitment is to fairness, and I earnestly hope that the committee will uphold this principle throughout its proceedings."
Sen. Jones also commends the Senate Majority Party for their willingness to collaborate with the Minority Party in establishing the committee rules. He expresses his optimism that this spirit of cooperation will continue in future meetings.
