In a bid to address critical national concerns, Congressman Rick Allen of Georgia's 12th District hosted a virtual town hall which discussed pressing issues such as the Israel conflict, workforce developments, retirement security legislation, and the ongoing challenges at the southern border. The Representative office believes that that telephone town halls offer an effective means for constituents to engage and learn more about Allen's work done on behalf of the 12th District.
According to the Representative's press release, a constituent from Augusta raised concerns about the unfolding crisis at the southern border. "Congressman Allen highlighted the provisions of H.R. 2, emphasizing measures to restart border wall construction, enhance border technology, increase personnel, ensure transparency in illegal crossings, and address human trafficking", said the Representative's office. The challenges were attributed to individuals exploiting the system and cartel influence.
The Representative's press release also noted that Allen provided insight into the ongoing Farm Bill discussions. He emphasized on the necessity to pass or extend it before the Christmas holidays while seeking input. Regarding Social Security Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), he highlighted a 3.2% adjustment for 2024 based on the CPI inflation index. Despite this increase, he expressed concerns that benefits are strained due to reported 17% inflation on essential products and attributed this issue to what he referred to as conflicting policies by Democrats.
According to further information from his press release, constituents who are interested in attending future town halls can sign up on Congressman Allen’s congressional website.
