The latest movie from filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza, “Police State,” is coming to an Evans movie theater

The latest movie from filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza, titled "Police State," will be shown at an Evans movie theater on Oct. 23. The film explores the rise of what D’Souza calls a "police state" in America, showcasing various instances of government overreach and control.

D’Souza expressed surprise at the need to create a movie like "Police State" in the wake of the 2020 election and President Biden taking office. He stated, "I honestly wouldn't have believed, prior to the 2020 election and prior to Biden coming to office, that I’d be making this movie. Which really shows that we have seen a speedy introduction of the police state on many different levels."

The film delves into the origins of what D’Souza perceives as "police state" activities by the government, starting with the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks and the implementation of the so-called "Patriot Act." It also examines more recent examples, such as COVID-19 lockdowns, social media censorship, the prosecution of concerned parents at school board meetings, and the surveillance and detention of individuals who were in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021.

In addition to D’Souza himself, the film features accomplished actor Nick Searcy and includes interviews with U.S. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R), radio host Dan Bongino, and several government whistleblowers.

The movie's trailer has garnered significant attention, amassing 74 million views on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Evans movie theater, located at 4365 Towne Centre Dr, will screen "Police State" at 7 p.m. on Oct. 23. The movie's website lists additional showings in Atlanta, Brunswick, Savannah, and other communities.
