Congressman Rick W. Allen (GA-12) launched the 2023 Congressional App Challenge for middle and high school students in Georgia's 12th District. This nationwide event allows students to compete with their peers by creating a software application, or "app," for web, PC, tablet, mobile, or other platform of their choice. Upon the announcement, Congressman Allen issued the following statement

“I’m excited to once again host the Congressional App Challenge, and I encourage any student interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to participate. STEM is a growing field throughout Georgia and the nation, and this competition provides those interested with a platform to explore their creativity.”

All current middle and high school students (grades 6-12) who reside in or attend school in the 12th Congressional District are encouraged to participate. Students may compete as individuals or in teams of up to four, as long as two of the teammates are eligible to participate in Georgia-12.

The winner will be chosen by a panel of local judges who work within the academic, software and entrepreneurial fields. Further details regarding a local event highlighting the submissions and winning app will be forthcoming. Additionally, the winning app will be featured on the U.S. House of Representatives' website and displayed in a U.S. Capitol exhibit. All apps must be submitted online by November 1, 2023.
