#StrongAugusta Initiative Receives National Recognition

#StrongAugusta, a community initiative dedicated to addressing ASHER (Active Shooter, Hostile Event, and Emergency Response) events, has been prominently featured in a national publication. The article titled "Strength in Numbers" showcases Augusta's groundbreaking efforts in establishing a unified and proactive response to ASHER events, garnering nationwide attention. We are proud to partner with Augusta University to lead and represent Augusta, bringing crucial awareness to this issue.

Through close collaboration with law enforcement, responders, educational institutions, businesses, and community organizations, including Augusta University Office of Critical Event Preparedness and Response, Center of Operational Medicine Police Department, Communications and Media Relations, Richmond 7 County Sheriff's Office, Marshal's Office, Board of Education Police Department, National Fire Protection Association, Doctors Hospital of Augusta, Piedmont Hospital - Augusta, Pane College, FBI, Augusta, US Department of Homeland Security, Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, and Fort Gordon US Army Cyber Center of Excellence, we have developed strategies that empower individuals and enhance community safety. 

This national exposure serves as validation for our collective efforts and inspires other communities to - strengthen their ASHER response plans. We express our heartfelt gratitude to the publication for recognizing our work and raising awareness about preparedness. We also extend our deepest appreciation to the citizens of Augusta for their unwavering support.

Fire Chief Burden emphasizes the significance of the NFPA Journal article on #StrongAugusta: "This article serves as a clarion call for the adoption of ASHER practices in our city. As the Fire Chief of Augusta, I strongly endorse and urge the immediate implementation of ASHER throughout our fire department and community.
