Environment Matters Meeting Session: Wednesday, January 25, 2023

Columbia County Stormwater Department will host the next “Environment Matters” Meeting Session on Wednesday, January 25th from 10:15 AM – 11:00 AM at the Columbia County Evans Auditorium located in Building A (630 Ronald Reagan Drive, Evans).  
 
Margaret Alligood, Georgia Master Naturalist, will facilitate the meeting.
 
The primary mission of the Stormwater Department is to educate the community about the direct connection between the stormwater systems and our natural water resources. We have many other behind the scenes departments we rely on in order to serve our citizens best and we like to give you the opportunity to meet them in person to learn more about our resources so that they can be of help to you also.  
 
One such integral Department is our GIS Department, who creates and maintains the MAPS ONLINE system on our County website.  MAPS ONLINE is an interactive public map of Columbia County with layers of information ranging from individual property ownership, zoning, location of infrastructure, identified streams, and political district boundaries – just to name a few.  
 
The GIS team will do a user friendly demonstration with a walk-through of how to navigate the MAPS ONLINE system that is available to you.  Attend the meeting and learn how to create your own map using GIS data and learn more about your county, property, and many helpful things you may not know that the MAPS ONLINE system can do for you.  
 
Come help us welcome the New Year of 2023 and stay tuned for additional stormwater outreach topics and events to come. 
 
As always, there is no cost to attend but registration is required. Seating is limited and will be spaced out comfortably.  The workshop is for adults only.  The presentation will start promptly at 10:15am.
