In recognition of Christmas and New Year’s Day, many of the Augusta, Georgia government services will be closed or have abbreviated operating hours. Below is a list of operating hours for key services:
The Augusta Municipal Building
For Christmas, the Augusta Municipal Building will be closed Friday, December 23, 2022, and Monday, December 26, 2022. The facility will reopen Tuesday, December 27, 2022.
For the New Year’s holiday, the facility will be closed Monday, January 2, 2023, and will reopen Tuesday, December 3, 2023.
Augusta 311
For Christmas, the Augusta 311 Center will be open from 8:30am-5pm on both Friday, December 23, 2022, and Monday, December 26, 2022. However, the Center will be closed Christmas Eve, December 24, 2022.
For the New Year’s holiday, the Augusta 311 Center will be closed New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2022. However, the Center will be open from 8:30am-5pm on Monday, January 2, 2023.
Augusta Transit
Below is a list of the last departures on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve from the Broad Street Transfer Facility.

There will be no transit service on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022, and Monday, December 26, 2022. Regular service will resume Tuesday, December 27, 2022, - Friday, December 30, 2022. For the New Year’s holiday, there will be no transit services on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2023, and Monday, January 2, 2023. Regular service will resume Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
Augusta Utilities
For Christmas, all Augusta Utilities offices, including both Customer Service locations, will be closed Friday, December 23, 2022, and Monday, December 26, 2022. Offices will resume normal operating hours of 8:30am-5pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.
For the New Year’s holiday, all Augusta Utilities offices, including both Customer Service locations, will be closed Monday, January 2, 2023. Offices will resume normal operating hours of 8:30am-5pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

Augusta Landfill:
The Augusta Landfill will be closed Christmas Eve, December 24, 2022, as well as New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2022.
Garbage collection:
There will be no delays in garbage collection the week of Christmas nor the week of New Year’s. Residents should place their cart at the street curb on their normal day of service.
Parks and Recreation Department
For the Christmas holiday, the Parks and Recreation Department’s Administrative office, all community centers, the Augusta Aquatic Center, athletic offices, and the rental offices will be closed on Friday, December 23, 2022; Christmas Eve, December 24, 2022; and Monday, December 26, 2022. However, all public parks and tennis courts will remain open from dawn to dusk. Newman Tennis Center will be open on Friday, December 23, 2022 from 9am to 5pm, on Saturday, December 24, 2022 from 9am to 2pm, and on Monday, December 26, 2022 from 8:30am to 5pm. All facilities will return to normal operating hours on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.
For the New Year’s Day holiday, the Parks and Recreation Department’s Administrative office, all community centers, athletic offices, and the rental offices will be closed New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2022; and Monday, January 2, 2023.
