Augusta Prep was recently selected by Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) to contact ISS crew members via amateur radio in 2023. Augusta Prep was one of seven schools in the United States selected for this program, which will take place between July and December.
Augusta Prep Upper/Middle School Technology Teacher Mary White submitted the proposal earlier this year to ARISS. In the near future, members of the Augusta Prep faculty and staff will undergo orientation to learn more about the process for communicating with ISS members. "I am so happy that our students will have the opportunity to communicate with the ISS in 2023!" Mrs. White said. "This promises to be an amazing experience to work with radio technology and learn from first-hand accounts of research in space."A select number of Augusta Prep students from all divisions will be chosen to participate in this process. Look for more details about the Augusta Prep collaboration with ARISS in the coming months.
