Mayor Hardie Davis, Jr., and Masters City Little League will host PLAY BALL, an initiative with the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) and Major League Baseball (MLB), on Thursday, July 21, 2022, from 10:00a.m– 2:00p.m. at the Masters City Little League fields located at 1951 Phinizy Rd.
Created in 2010 with MLB and USCM, PLAY BALL encourages young people and communities to engage in baseball or softball activities.
“When I think about the youth of Augusta and their exposure to sports, I want to make sure they have choices, and then create an opportunity for them to engage in and learn the sport, but have fun as well”, said Mayor Davis.
Masters City Little League, started in 1974, is an all-volunteer chartered division of Little League International and aims to provide little league programs for boys and girls, ages 4-18, as well as provide volunteer opportunities to high school and college students, adults, and veterans.
Jerry Hunter, 2022 Coach of the Year from Westside High School, will be leading activities for the the PLAY BALL event. Participants can expect games, skills and team-building exercises, and free t-shirts (while supplies last). There will be food vendors onsite for participants as well.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is available via Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/play-ball-event-tickets-383064264527.
