COUNTY OF COLUMBIA: Environment Matters Lunch & Learn

Businessluncheon

County of Columbia issued the following announcement on Mar. 28.

Columbia County Stormwater Department will host the next “Environment Matters” Lunch & Learn on Thursday, April 28th from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Columbia County Evans Auditorium located in Building A (630 Ronald Reagan Drive, Evans).

Shelly Blackburn, Executive Director of Columbia County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), will be the main speaker and she will be bringing the Serene 18 Paddle Trail Partners!  We are excited to share with you this opportunity to meet the CVB.  They are responsible for the Serene 18 Promo designed to attract visitors to our waterways that has now gone viral.  You will hear the inside scoop on kayaking & canoeing 18 square miles of our beautiful local waters.  Once you are familiar with the Serene 18 Program you will want to share this fun program with your out-of-town friends & relatives.  Instead of going to see them, have them come to your gorgeous community for summer fun!

The mission of the CVB is to promote Columbia County as a distinctive recreational, professional and cultural destination in order to stimulate the local economy.  Serene 18 is one of their many marketing programs which we know you’ll enjoy learning about along with other programs, and potentially participate in.

Recreational water quality is important for our area to thrive both in entertainment and business prosperity.  This is just one of the primary reasons that the mission of the Stormwater Department is to educate the community about the direct connection between the stormwater systems and our natural water resources. We can’t have the benefits of pristine water recreational areas without an effective stormwater management system.  We hold these informative meetings and workshops in the interest of citizen understanding and involvement.  We hope to see you at this next meeting.

As always, there is no cost to attend but registration is required. Seating is limited and will be spaced out comfortably.  The workshop is for adults only.

Margaret Alligood, Georgia Master Naturalist, will facilitate the meeting.

Please email Margaret Alligood to reserve your seat.
