Columbia County issued the following announcement on Feb. 12.
Columbia County, in cooperation with Southeast Utilities of Georgia, wishes to inform the driving public of intermittent, temporary lane closure(s) with lane shifts on Evans Town Center Boulevard. The lane closure will be to upgrade aerial fiber on Evans Town Center Boulevard from the intersection of Evans to Locks Road to Washington Road. The intermittent closure will be from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on, Wednesday, February 16, 2022 and Thursday, February 17, 2022. Expect delays please seek an alternate route if possible.
When the lane closure is in effect traffic will be controlled by flaggers on each end of the lane closure.
Whenever you approach a work zone: slow down; allow extra distance between vehicles; watch for advanced warning signs; obey road crew flaggers; and expect the unexpected. If possible, please plan to take an alternate route and/or allow additional time for commuting during this timeframe.
