Columbia County issued the following announcement on Jan. 5.

SAVE THE DATE: Environment Matters Brown Bag Lunch & Learn (Friday, January 28, 2022)

Please email Margaret Alligood to reserve your seat. Her email is malligood@columbiacountyga.gov.

Columbia County Stormwater Department will host the next “Environment Matters” Lunch & Learn on Friday, January 28th from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Columbia County Evans Auditorium located in Building A (630 Ronald Reagan Drive, Evans).

Margaret Alligood, Georgia Master Naturalist, will facilitate the meeting.

Tripp Williams, County Extension Agent for Columbia County, will be the main speaker.  Last month we partnered with Tripp and there was such an overwhelming interest from the audience that we are offering this back to back session.  Tripp’s presentation will be on Integrated Pest Management & Trouble-shooting Plant Problems.  In order to share a larger volume of helpful educational details this session will be lecture style.  Tripp is an expert on utilizing best management practices in the maintenance of your lawn and gardens and will also share how this can play a big part in preventing pollution of our natural water resources.

The primary mission of the Stormwater Department is to educate the community about the direct connection between the stormwater systems and our natural water resources. We hold these informative meetings and workshops in the interest of citizen understanding and involvement.

We wish you a Happy New Year, and hope you can attend this educational meeting as we celebrate the start of a new year.  We are lining up new exciting topics and speakers for 2022 so stay tuned!

As always, there is no cost to attend but registration is required. Seating is limited and will be spaced out comfortably.  The workshop is for adults only.
