Businessluncheon

Columbia County issued the following announcement on Sept. 30.

Columbia County Stormwater Departments along with Georgia Master Naturalist, Margaret Alligood will host the next “Environment Matters” Lunch & Learn on Thursday, October 28th from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Columbia County Evans Main Auditorium located in Building A (630 Ronald Reagan Drive, Evans).

Agenda, Topics & Speakers in October:

  • Margaret and Rachael will share updates on recent activities within our Columbia County Stormwater Teams as well as discuss some exciting outreach ideas for 2022.
  • Rachael Osborne, Columbia County’s Stormwater Compliance Environmental Project Specialist will lead this discussion and share the importance of sustainable watershed management.  By the end of this session you will understand the close connection between people and the natural world as well as how you can help make a positive impact on our environment.
  • Callie Oldfield, Phinizy Center & Nature Park’s Research Director will be our special guest speaker. We are excited for you to meet Callie and hear about Phinizy research projects.   This presentation will mainly focus on the sturgeon tracking research in the Savannah River.

The Stormwater Compliance Department’s main mission is to educate the community about the direct connection between our stormwater system and our natural water resources. We hold these informative meetings and workshops in the interest of citizen understanding and involvement.

Protecting our water resources needs to be a community effort because we all live downstream.  We are proud to have Phinizy doing important research in the Savannah River Basin.  We look forward to both Callie and Rachael combining their vast knowledge on the Savannah River watershed to present an interesting and educational hour for you.

There is no cost to attend but registration is required. Seating is limited and will be spaced out comfortably.  The workshop is for adults only.

Please email malligood@columbiacountyga.gov to register and reserve your seat.
