AUGUSTA UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER: Construction and Traffic Around AU Health

Construction

Augusta University Medical Center issued the following announcement on Sept. 20.

Expect some traffic delays Sept. 27-29 around Entrance 3 as Georgia Power finishes construction on 15th Street.

Georgia Power has finished the work on 15th Street, but there will be some delays next week as they finish paving. They will work the section between Laney-Walker and Walton Way per the schedule below:

  • September 27th – Contractors will mill 2 inches of asphalt. Expect about a 15-minute interruption at Entrance 3 and the exit as the machine works past the intersection.
  • September 28th – Contractors will pave the lane closest to the parking deck. Expect about a 15-minute interruption at Entrance 3 and the exit for asphalt to be placed and cure enough for traffic.
  • September 29th – Contractors will pave the other lane and turn lanes. Should be no interruption in access at entrance or exit.
During this period, southbound traffic will not be able to turn across the street into Entrance 3. Traffic will need to go to the light at Laney-Walker and make a U-turn back towards Entrance 3. This work will not block traffic at Entrance 3 or the exit during the peak use hours of 7 a.m.-9 a.m. and 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Interruptions in access to the entrance and exit will take place between 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
