Columbia County issued the following announcement on Aug 26.
Do you need a safe location to conduct your CraigsList, Facebook, LetGo, Close5, 5Miles, OfferUp, Kijiji, Pinterest, Etsy, GunBroker, ArmsList, local classifieds or other face to face transactions?
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has arranged 4 locations for your use when conducting these types of transactions. Follow these guidelines to protect yourself when conducting this type of business:
- Agree to meet the buyer or seller at any one of these four locations located in Columbia County
- Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center: 2273 County Camp Road, Appling, Georgia 30802
- Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Substation: 630 Ronald Reagan Drive, Evans, Georgia 30809
- Harlem Department of Public Safety: 110 West Milledgeville Street, Harlem, Georgia 30814
- Grovetown Department of Public Safety: 306 East Robinson Avenue, Grovetown, Georgia 30813
- You can meet in the parking lot or the lobby of any location.
- Department staff won’t normally be involved in the transactions or oversee them.
