Columbia County issued the following announcement on Aug. 26.
- Have packages delivered to where you ARE, not where you AREN’T. For example, consider having packages delivered to your place of employment.
- Use tracking numbers and delivery notifications.
- Ask family members, trusted neighbors, and friends to accept deliveries on your behalf.
- Request packages to be placed in less conspicuous places, such as a side door or behind a planter.
- Many delivery companies allow you to request a delivery time or time frame schedule packages when someone is home.
- Install a small security camera at your front door.
- Request a signature on deliveries if possible.
- Some companies offer a locker service for packages to be held at the delivery center for pick-up. Utilize this program if you can’t have someone receive the package personally.
- Keep an eye out for suspicious vehicles and people in your neighborhood. Report suspicious activity to the COLUMBIA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE at 706-541-2800.
