Chatham County issued the following announcement on July 29.
Chatham County will host a workshop to inform and educate the Chatham County Board of Commissioners on the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) on the allowable uses of the funds. Acceptable uses outlined in the bill include but are not limited to:
• Respond to or mitigate the public health emergency with respect to COVID-19 emergency or its negative economic impact;
• Provide government services to the extent of the reduction in revenue;
• Make necessary investments in water, sewer, or broadband infrastructure;
• Respond to workers performing essential work during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
The U.S. Department of Treasury, under ARPA, allocated $362 Billion dollars for America Rescue Plan –Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds. Chatham County Board of Commissioners accepted the award of $28.1 million at the April 6, 2021 Board meeting with expectations of staff providing additional information.
