Dr. Carter G. Woodson founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History, in 1915. It is now called the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. In 1926, Dr. Woodson initiated the celebration of Negro History Week, which encompassed the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. The celebration was expanded to a month in 1976.

Join us for EAMC’s Black History Month program, Feb. 22, 12:30-1:30 p.m., in the High Auditorium, first floor. The guest speaker will be Corey Rogers with the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History. This event is limited to EAMC and Fort Gordon employees.
