FOIA Request to McDuffie County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at East Central Georgia News have submitted a request under the Georgia Open Records Act ยง 50.18.70 et seq. for records pertaining to the upcoming election.

Our request specifically seeks a list of all candidates running in the forthcoming election. We have asked for detailed information including each candidate’s first, middle, and last name; the office they are vying for; jurisdiction of said office; and their party affiliation.

In addition to this, we have also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization dedicated to gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is crucial for us in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. In line with this mission, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We will continue to work diligently in disseminating important information about the upcoming elections and look forward to sharing these details with our readers once they become available.
