Joe Edlemon, chairman of the Columbia County GOP, said President Joe Biden’s economic policies are forcing Americans to makes sacrifices in order to survive increasing inflation.

“Americans are caught in the crosshairs of the failed democrat party economic policies under Joe Biden’s leadership, which includes unsustainable hyper-inflation,” Eldemon told East Central Georgia News. “From energy to produce and durable goods to disposable goods, people just have less money to spend.”

“Additionally, money spent does not go as far as it once did under President Trump’s economic policies,” he said. “Everyday Americans are having to make real sacrifices, choosing between gas for their vehicle or food on their table!”

The cost of chicken in Georgia has increased by more than four dollars per pound since 2020, reported Peach Tree Times on Wednesday.

A pack of chicken pieces — split breasts, drumsticks or thighs — at the supermarket chain cost $2.99 per pound as of May 16, 2024, which is $1.70 more than the $1.29 per pound price tag on May 13, 2020.

That marks a total increase of 132% for chicken breast since 2020, which outpaces the supposed 2.2% inflation rate for food for the last year, as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

The analysis also found that the cost of bread has increased by 121% since 2020, from a cost of 99 cents in May 2020 to $2.19 in May 2024.

The cost of salad dressing has increased by 202%, from 99 cents for a 14-16 oz. container in May 2020 to $2.99 for the same size container in May 2024.

Cortes’ organization released a poll on May 12 that found 68% of Georgia voters blame the Biden Administration for the rising cost of food, with 49% of those voters saying the administration deserves a “great deal” of blame for rising costs.

That poll also found 60% of Georgia voters say “Bidenomics” is not working for most middle-class families in the state, with 44% saying Biden’s economic policies aren’t working “at all.”

Former President Donald Trump leads Biden by 10% among Georgia voters in the 2024 race for the White House.

The survey released by LAW was conducted among 600 likely Georgia voters on May 1-5, 2024 by North Star Public Opinion Research.

The Columbia County GOP consists of thirteen members, including the Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, and other members. The previous chairman was Debbie McCord. Current chairman Joe Edlemon will serve until his term expires in 2025.
