Columbia County issued the following announcement on May 10.

Columbia County Stormwater Department will host the next “Environment Matters” Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, May 25th from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Columbia County Evans Auditorium located in Building A (630 Ronald Reagan Drive, Evans).

Michael “Mac” Mcilhargey, Wildwood Park Manager, will be the main speaker.   Mac will be sharing with us the many amenities the 867 acres park has to offer.  With summer just around the corner, you’ll want to attend and learn about the many opportunities for family fun!   Wildwood offers access to 72,000 acres of Clarks Hill Lake, which has the area’s best spots for fishing and boating activities.  We are very excited to have Mac come share with us the inside scoop on everything from National Fishing Tournaments and International Disc Golfing, to glamping and camping.

Recreational water quality is important for our area to thrive both in entertainment and business prosperity.  This is just one of the primary reasons that the mission of the Stormwater Department is to educate the community on ways to keep our stormwater runoff clean in order to protect our natural water resources & aquatic life for future generations.  We hold these informative meetings and workshops in the interest of partnering with our citizens so that they can become involved and help educate others in ways to protect our watershed.   Together we can reach more people about the direct connection between the stormwater systems and our natural water resources.

We hope to see you at this next meeting.

As always, there is no cost to attend but registration is required. Seating is limited and will be spaced out comfortably.  The workshop is for adults only.

Margaret Alligood, Georgia Master Naturalist, will facilitate the meeting.

Please email Margaret Alligood to reserve your seat.
