The school, which is part of Columbia County Public Schools, is overseen by a central office in Evans.

Chronic absenteeism has continued to pose significant challenges for Georgia schools since the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, according to GaDOE. Efforts by the agency now include a statewide real-time attendance dashboard, public awareness outreach, and targeted support to help high-need districts improve daily attendance rates.
In 2025, Georgia lawmakers updated school attendance laws, preventing expulsion solely for absenteeism and introducing new reporting requirements along with support for alternative diploma pathways.
As of 2026, Georgia’s average student-to-teacher ratio was about 14:1, which is better than the national average of 15:1.
