Augusta Regional Airport will host a free two-week summer camp for local high school students in partnership with the Georgia Institute of Technology. The camp, part of the airport’s Air Ed Program, is scheduled to take place from June 8 through June 19, 2026.

The program targets high school juniors and seniors who have an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Students will participate in hands-on activities focused on aerospace and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), which are areas experiencing growth across the country. Teams of students will design drone missions, create conceptual designs, build prototypes, conduct test flights, troubleshoot issues, and refine their projects. The camp concludes with a final demonstration and a community showcase.

“With the tremendous growth in the UAS industry and the expanding opportunities for rewarding careers, we are excited to host this collaborative event with the Georgia Institute of Technology,” said Herbert L. Judon, Jr., Airport Executive Director for Augusta Regional Airport.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Augusta Regional Airport to bring Georgia Tech Aerospace Engineering’s proven, aerospace-themed summer program to students across the Augusta region,” said Kelly Griendling, Ph.D., K-12 Outreach Lead for the Georgia Space Grant Consortium at the Georgia Institute of Technology. “This program will provide students with meaningful, hands-on experiences in aviation and engineering while inspiring the next generation workforce.”

Space is limited for this opportunity; participation is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. More information can be found on the official website: https://tinyurl.com/42hz6xah.
