The 2021-2022 Augusta Prep girls soccer state championship team added another honor to its list of achievements this week. According to the UNITED SOCCER COACHES ORGANIZATION, Augusta Prep was one of just 35 boys and girls high school programs in the United States – the only one in Georgia – to be recognized as a Team Pinnacle Award winner.

According to the United Soccer Coaches website, the “Team Pinnacle Award honors teams that have achieved a high level of fair play, educational excellence, and success on the pitch.

To be considered for the award, teams must have received either the Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze version of the High School or College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award; achieved recognition in the classroom as a recipient of the High School or College Team Academic Award; and recorded a winning percentage of .750 or higher during the respective season.”

The Augusta Prep girls soccer team was previously recognized by United Soccer Coaches as a team academic award winner for the 2021-2022 school year.

According to a press release, United Soccer coaches “annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.”

Augusta Prep, which won its third state championship in four years in May, also posted the top team GPA of any girls program in Georgia, with a 4.21 GPA. Only 13 of 189 programs nationwide posted a higher team GPA than Augusta Prep.

To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player’s GPA, then dividing by the number of players.

During the summer, Augusta Prep Class of 2022 graduates Mae Wallace Baker, Sage Connolly and Beatty Joseph were each recognized as HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICANS, each of them sporting a weighted GPA of 4.3 or higher.

Augusta Prep, THE TOP PRIVATE SCHOOL AND COLLEGE PREP SCHOOL IN THE AUGUSTA AREA, congratulates the 2021-2022 girls soccer team for this academic achievement.
